NBA Season Begins Tonight With Betting Odds Favoring Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers came out of nowhere last year to become the best team in the Western Conference by the end of the season. They rolled through the playoffs all the way to the NBA Finals.
They did not quite reach their goal after they were beaten in the finals by the Boston Celtics. That loss did not deter their superstar Kobe Bryant as he led the United States to a gold medal just a few months after the series loss.
Now, the Lakers are back and they have a healthy Andrew Bynum to help them try to get back to the finals. If they do, it would shock nobody. The Lakers have been made the betting favorites to win the title this season by odds makers everywhere.
Los Angeles starts the season with 3-1 odds to win the championship. The defending champion Celtics are the second choice at 7-2. Boston returns many of their starters from last year's championship team.
The New Orleans Hornets are another team that snuck up out of nowhere last year. They will not be doing as much this season because sports books have made them the third choice at 7-1.
San Antonio and Detroit have been two teams that are used to being favored over the past several years. This year, they will play from a slight underdog role. While they are not the top favored teams, they are joined by the Houston Rockets all at 8-1 odds.
