NCAA Tournament Begins With Gambling All Across The US
The NCAA Tournament is one of the biggest times of the year for sports gambling. Millions of people in the US will have some form of financial interest in the outcome of the tournament. It has become almost a rite of passage of Spring to be involved in a bracket pool.
It is true that sportsbooks have odds on every NCAA Tournament game. The hard core bettors will be focusing on this area of gambling, but that does not paint the entire picture of the amount of gambling that takes place during this tournament.
The betting extends much further. From postal workers, to police officers, all the way to house moms that are just looking to make a quick buck. people with no idea who the teams are, to others who follow the sport religiously. They will all be taking part in bracket pools.
The economy will make the betting worse this year. People will be looking for a quick buck, and a tournament pool provides a way to make money quick, with a minimal investment. That is why so many eyes will be glued to television sets for the next couple of weeks.
Authorities will do a small amount of policing with these pools. The popular theory is that the law will not interfere with this form of gambling if all money collected for the bracket pools goes to the winners. If people start taking a cut for running the tournaments, that is when the law rears its head.
The games have begun, and there is no more contemplating left to do. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the NCAA Tournament, and know that you will be joined by millions of others over the next few weeks.
