NCAA Tournament Betting Odds: North Carolina Favored

The North Carolina Tar Heels came into this college basketball season as the number one team in the country. If the odds makers are correct, they will also end the season at the top of the polls.

Sportsbooks have made North Carolina the betting favorite to win themselves another national championship in this years NCAA tournament. They did not receive the overall number one seed, but that has little bearing on the odds.

North Carolina is +350 to win the tournament. The Pittsburgh Panthers are the second betting choice at +575. Big East champion and number one overall seed Louisville is the third choice at +625.

There has been debate all year as to who was the best team in the Big East. many believed it was Pittsburgh, and others felt it was Louisville. A third team, however, was the top choice for most of the year. Connecticut will enter the NCAA tourney with odds of +850 to win it all.

There is only one other team that is less than a ten to one pick, and that team played in the championship game last year. Memphis comes in as the fifth pick of odds makers at +1000.

Anyone looking for a value bet can look to the middle of the pack when it comes to the odds. Clemson is a +7500 pick, with UCLA (+4500) and Missouri (+3800) also capable of making a deep run.

As for the long shots, there are still some very capable teams. Butler, who has been ranked in the top twenty five all year, is +22500, and Mississippi State, the surprising SEC champions, are +25000.
