NCAA Tournament Betting Preview: Duke Hopes To Avoid Upset Bug
The NCAA Tournament for college basketball this year has been as exciting as any in recent history. Tonight, another top ranked team takes the court in the hopes of advancing and not being bitten by the upset bug.
Already in the tournament, Kansas and Syracuse have been ousted. Kansas did not even make it to the second weekend, losing to Northern Iowa last week. Syracuse was upset Friday night by Butler.
The Blue Devils come into tonight's game against Purdue as one of the hottest teams in the country. Purdue was an afterthought to win even one game after losing their top player late in the year. They not only responded by winning one game, but two.
Baylor and St. Mary's are the other half of the region that will be in action today. St. Mary's has been playing well, and many believe Baylor is destined to make it all the way to the Final Four.
The tournament this year has been even more unpredictable than before. Upsets are at an all-time high this early, and several double digit seeded teams still are alive. The Elite Eight will begin on Saturday and by Sunday evening, the Final Four will be set.
The one number one seed that has had no problems advancing so far is Kentucky. The Wildcats have blown out all three of their opponents, including an upstart Cornell team that was predicted to give Kentucky problems. Kansas State and West Virginia also joined Butler and Kentucky in the Elite Eight with wins on Thursday.
