NCAA Tournament Gambling Bust Takes Place in New York Bar
They warned everybody. The news has all been about how NCAA pools are illegal. They said they were going to crack down on the illegal gambling. They were not kidding.
After a week of news that involved police agencies from different states commenting on how it is illegal to participate in NCAA gambling pools, the hammer has finally dropped.
Four people are at the front of an illegal gambling operation that was broken up by police in a New York bar. Mulligan's Pub and Eatery owners and two other men who ran the illegal pool have all been charged in the bust.
The crew was running an illegal NCAA tournament pool in which teams were auctioned off. The prize pool for the illegal gambling operation is said to be upwards of $10,000.
The ironic part to this bust is that several members of the Warren County Board of Supervisors were in attendance at the bar, which was closed to the public while the auction was taking place. None of them were arrested.
Police either did a great job of covering up for the officials, or were just going after the people that were organizing the gambling pool. The police were led to the bar by someone who reported the illegal activity.
