New BCS Rankings Released: Nothing Changes At The Top
The Alabama Crimson Tide had another impressive performance on Saturday night and it was enough to keep them on top in the new BCS rankings that have just been released.
Unfortunately for the Crimson Tide, the team they will be facing in the SEC title game is playing even better football than they are. The Florida Gators pounded South Carolina on Saturday and had hoped to move up in the rankings.
That did not happen, they stayed at number four. Texas Tech stayed at number two and Texas remained number three. The Red Raiders will have the chance to defend their ranking when they play against number five Oklahoma this upcoming weekend.
Texas may end up being the odd team out. If Texas Tech wins Saturday, they would be headed towards the Big Twelve championship game against Missouri. Texas could be jumped by the Gators if Florida wins the SEC championship.
A team that has not been in the BCS standings in several years has emerged as the front runners in the ACC. The Miami Hurricanes defeated Virginia Tech on Thursday night and after North Carolina's loss to Maryland Saturday, the Canes are all alone in first place in the Coastal division.
Miami broke the BCS rankings at number twenty three. If they win at Georgia Tech on Thursday, they would position themselves to play for their first ever ACC championship and a BCS bowl birth.
