New England Patriots Looking To Tie 1972 Miami Dolphins Perfect Record

The time has come in this NFL season where the New England Patriots must be taken seriously in their attempt to match the 1972 Miami Dolphins perfect season.

The Patriots have not just beaten their first ten opponents this year, they have demolished most of them and have made professional football teams look like high school teams.

Tom Brady is on pace to obliterate Peyton Manning's single season touchdown record, and the Patriots as a team look to do something that only one team in history, the '72 Dolphins, have done, go through a season without losing a game.

The schedule is in the favor of New England down the stretch. Of their final six opponents, critics believe that only the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants have even a remote possibility of staying with the Pats for four quarters.

When the playoffs hit, the Colts will most likely test New England again, much like they did a few weeks ago. The Colts, however, must get healthy before then if they have any inclination of upsetting the Patriots.

Nothing explains the likelihood of New England going undefeated as much as the odds in sportsbooks. At this point in the year, the Patriots are almost even money to run the table, almost unheard of odds.

In order for them to do what most people now believe is their destiny, they will have to stay healthy, and if that occurs, those '72 Dolphins might never get to pop that bottle of champagne.
