New Main Stream Sports: Poker, Dominoes, Darts
ESPN dedicated a two-hour block of programming Tuesday night to the World Series of Darts and World Series of Poker.
The world used to watch sports programming to see well-conditioned athletes. Now, the world watches to see people who look a lot like everyday people. They're flabby. They're skinny. They're pasty. They're ordinary. The world is now watching competitor who prepare for the next day's event by downing a six pack of Heineken and a tray full of cheese nachos.
The World Series of Poker starts its yearly championship tournament July 28th and ESPN will cover every second of it with full detail analysis and behind the scenes coverage.
ESPN is also in search of the 'next big thing' as last month they aired the Dominoes championship and now Darts.
