New York Jets And Favre Betting Favorites Over Defending Champs

For anyone who does not understand the impact that a Hall of Fame quarterback could have on an organization, just take a look at the New York Jets. They had a miserable season last year, and were not predicted to do much better this season.

Enter Brett Favre. The former Packer great was traded to the Jets and it has taken exactly one preseason game for the expectations of New York to change.

The Jets will play their second game with Favre under center on Saturday, and they are gambling favorites to win the game against the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. The Jets are favored by three points in the game.

Of course it is only the preseason and the point spread on the game does not give a true reflection of how good a team is, but it is still nice to be perceived as the favorite.

Had this been a regular season game, the Giants would most likely be favored. Even though they lost Jeremy Shockey and Michael Strahan in the off season, they still have a potent offense and above average defense.

The Favre era has begun in New York. That is what the point spread is telling us. It says that the Jets are a better team now than they were three weeks ago, and for Jets fans, that's enough information for now. offense
