NFC Championship Game Preview: Favre And Brees Battle For Title
By the time the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints take the field this evening, they will know who their opponent will be from the AFC should they win the game. That will be an afterthought, however, compared with the task they will face.
The Saints and the Vikings are two teams with similar styles. They both have explosive offenses, and while they have different defensive schemes, both teams are capable of big plays on the defensive side of the football.
Their quarterbacks are two of the best the league had to offer this season. Drew Brees and Brett Favre both had a career years, and are largely responsible for where their teams are today. The Vikings do have Adrian Peterson, who, if he gets going, could make the difference in the game.
One of the biggest similarities these two teams have is that neither has ever won a Super Bowl. Minnesota has been there four times, but came up empty in each attempt. New Orleans has never played in a championship game.
The Saints are the betting favorite, but they know that point spreads mean nothing when a team gets to this point in the season. The odds makers are also expecting a high scoring affair, with both offenses having plenty of weapons at their disposal.
