NFL Betting Odds: 49ers Favored Over Bears Tonight
The San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bears kick off the NFL Network's coverage of Thursday night football tonight in San Francisco. The 49ers have been installed as the gambling favorites for the game.
The 49ers and Bears both started the season strong and gave their fans something to get excited about. San Francisco began with three wins, and Chicago had a surprising victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
Those starts, however, seem like a distant memory for fans of the teams. The 49ers have not won a game since their impressive start and the Bears are now a 4-4 team in search of an identity. The loser of tonight's game will be in danger of falling far behind in the race for a playoff berth.
San Francisco has not won since they caved in and signed first round pick Michael Crabtree. They have lost five consecutive games and need a strong effort tonight to get back on track. Crabtree, meanwhile, has played well since joining the team.
Chicago has had some bad injuries and they have received inconsistent play from their offense. Quarterback Jay Cutler has looked great at times, and at other times he has looked dazed and confused.
Odds makers have given the 49ers the traditional home field advantage point spread of three points. The game does not figure to be an outrageously high scoring affair, with the total sitting at 43.5.
