NFL Betting Odds: Cowboys Can Wrap Up Playoff Berth Tonight
The Dallas Cowboys have had another roller coaster season in 2009. The Cowboys started strong, stumbled in the middle, and just when they looked like they were headed for another December meltdown, they beat the undefeated New Orleans Saints on the road.
Now, the Cowboys hold their playoff fate in their own hands. Earlier Sunday, the New York Giants lost miserably to the Carolina Panthers, and that has given the Cowboys the right to win and be in the NFC playoffs.
Dallas must win one of their final two games to ensure a playoff spot. Tonight may be their best chance when they face a lowly Redskins team coming off one of its worst losses in team history. Next week the Cowboys have to face the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles may be in a position to grab a first round bye in that game next week, so the Cowboys will try to avoid a showdown with the Eagles by winning tonight. Dallas is coming off their biggest win of the season.
Dallas came out strong against New Orleans last week and looked like a team that has morphed into one of the leagues best. The problem with Dallas is that they have not shown consistency in their game.
Tonight they have the opportunity to not only wrap up a playoff berth, but also send notice to the rest of the NFC that they will be no push over in the playoffs. The Cowboys are favored in the game against Washington.
The only way the Cowboys could lose out on a playoff spot is with two losses and a Giants win next week.
