NFL Betting Odds: Edwards And Crabtree Could Alter Power Balance
Two NFL teams solidified their wide receiver problems on Wednesday and the moves could have a major impact on the rest of the season. Braylon Edwards was traded to the Jets and Michael Crabtree signed with the 49ers.
Edwards was desperately in need of a change of scenery in Cleveland. The former Browns receiver has been troubled with stone hands the past couple of seasons, but still has the potential to again become one of the elite wide receivers in the league.
New York, coming off their loss at New Orleans, realized that they needed more play makers on offense. The addition of Edwards should help sure up a wide receiving corp that has been anything but impressive in the early part of the season.
In San Francisco, the 49ers have already emerged as the team to beat in the NFC West. The Rams and the Seahawks have struggled through their first four games, and the Cardinals have not regained their Super Bowl form as of yet.
The 49ers are 3-1, but have lacked that home run threat in the offense. Crabtree was the most explosive college football player last year for Texas tech, and has the skills to provide the deep threat San Francisco is lacking.
It may take both Edwards and Crabtree some time to adjust. For Edwards, it is just a matter of learning the playbook and doing what he does best-catch footballs. Crabtree will have a bigger learning curve, but may be ready to produce in time for the 49ers to make a serious Super Bowl run by the end of the season.
