NFL Betting Odds: Favre Gamble Comes To Light Tonight For Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings may have had the bigger picture in mind when they were coaxing Brett Favre out of retirement. They felt that Favre might have been the missing piece to a championship puzzle, so they put on the full court press in the off season.
For Favre, the decision came down to one prevailing thought. If he came back, he could once and for all take revenge on his former team, the Green Bay Packers. Tonight, both Favre and the Vikings may get their redemption.
The Vikings will host the Packers on Monday Night Football and while it will not be the circus atmosphere the teams will see when they play in November in Green Bay, the stadium will still be electric. Favre in purple against the Packers, that is enough of a story line for any NFL fans.
Favre has not always been great in games like these. He has had a tendency to try and do too much in playoff games and it has cost his Packers many a win. Tonight, Minnesota will just hope that he is the quarterback they signed him to be, the one that turns around and hands the ball to Adrien Peterson.
At some point tonight, Favre will be looking for the home run ball. The one pass that will show Green Bay and their fans that they made a mistake when they forced Favre out the door. On the other side, will be Aaron Rodgers.
There will be just as much pressure on Rodgers as Favre tonight. If Favre outshines the Packers quarterback, fans will begin to wonder why management let their Johnny Unitas get away. On the other hand, Rodgers could show, as he has so far this season, that the decision was a good one.
