NFL Betting Odds: Giants Looking To Stay In NFC Playoff Picture
The New York Giants are a team that looked like they would be one of the leagues best through the first month of the season. Since then, however, New York has played inconsistent football and is in danger of not making the playoffs.
Their hopes lie in Washington tonight. If the Giants lose, they can stay one game behind Dallas with a tiebreaker edge over the Cowboys should they finish with the same record.
A loss to the Redskins would virtually end any hopes that the Giants can make the playoffs. That would be a far fall for a team that many believed would be in contention for the best record in the NFC, not fighting for their playoff lives.
"If you would have told me after the first month that the Giants would be at risk of not making the playoffs at the end of the year, I would have thought you were crazy, but that is where they are at," said Analyst Bob Wilmer.
Washington players will have to battle tonight for different reasons. The Redskins are likely to have a new coach next season, some rumors leading to Mike Shanahan, so the players that are on the field tonight will be playing possibly for their spot on the roster next year.
The game is in Washington, adding to the pressure the Giants will be feeling. New York is favored on the road by three points. The total for the game is forty-four. Eli Manning is coming off his best performance of the season last week.
