NFL Betting Odds: NFC Teams Jockey For Playoff Positioning
The NFC playoff picture is not nearly as murky as in the AFC. While seven teams still have playoff aspirations in the AFC, all of the spots have been locked up in the NFC.
That means that while the AFC teams battle it out to see who gets into the dance, NFC teams will be jockeying for playoff position. All of the positions from two through six are up for grabs, along with one division.
The Philadelphia Eagles have the best position of any team still battling tomorrow. If they beat the Dallas Cowboys, the Eagles would not only win the NFC East, but also would claim the number two seed in the conference and a first round bye.
Minnesota would have the inside track on the bye if Philadelphia was to stumble. The Vikings are playing against a Giants team that has folded the tent on this season.
Arizona, the NFC representative in the Super Bowl last year, still could claim the two spot if the Vikings and Eagles both lose. Either way, the Cardinals will open the post season at home, where they started their run last season.
Dallas also could end up the number two seed, but the Cowboys would have to beat the Eagles, and have Arizona and Minnesota lose. With a win over the Eagles, Dallas would secure at least a home game as the NFC champion.
The New Orleans Saints are the only NFC playoff team that knows its fate. The Saints have lost two games in a row at home, but they will still be the top seed in the conference. That means that the road to the Super Bowl will go through the Superdome as long as New Orleans stays alive.
