NFL Betting Odds: Playoff Hunt To Be Sorted Out In AFC On Sunday
The playoff picture in the AFC is heading into Sunday with not even the best of prognosticators being able to sort it out. Luckily for them, the Tennessee Titans were eliminated on Friday, leaving only seven teams still alive for two playoff spots.
One of the five teams will be eliminated in Miami, where the Dolphins and Houston Texans face off in a battle of 7-7 teams where the loser will be out. Two of the other three 7-7 teams are underdogs this week, the exception being Pittsburgh at home against Baltimore.
The Ravens are in a group that includes themselves and Denver at 8-6. The two teams would be in the playoffs if they win their remaining two games, and that would make things easy in the AFC.
Should one. or both, of them lose, and the Broncos have a tough game against Philadelphia this week, then the playoff berths would come down to the last week of the season. The Jets and Jaguars are the other two teams still alive.
If all of the betting favorites hold up Sunday in games involving these teams, it would leave Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Denver, and Miami at 8-7. The Dolphins and Steelers are slated to meet next weekend in Miami, with the winner, under these circumstances, heading to the playoffs.
It is a lot of "ifs," but by Sunday night the picture should be much clearer. Add to this the drama of the Colts still playing for a perfect season, and the NFL seems like must-see television tomorrow.
