NFL Betting Odds Shifts Toward Favored Giants And Steelers Today
To be a favorite in the NFL playoffs the past several years has been somewhat of a jinx. The top seeded teams have had a hard time defending their home field advantage. This year has not been much different.
Of the six playoff games that have been played so far, only two of the teams have won games at home, San Diego and Arizona. The other four teams have lost, including the number one seed in the AFC, Tennessee, and the number two seed in the NFC, Carolina.
Today, two more teams get the chance to show that the regular season really does mean something. The New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers will have the opportunity to try and even up the odds on home teams winning.
The Steelers and the Giants are both gambling favorites to win today. If the two teams should survive, they would both be hosting conference championship games next week after the outcomes of Saturday's games.
There are similarities in their opponents for today. Philadelphia and San Diego were both left for dead a couple of weeks ago, only to finish the season strong and get help to make the playoffs.
Once in the playoffs, the Chargers defeated the favored Colts in San Diego, and the Eagles went on the road to beat Minnesota.
Now, after Saturdays games, the two Sunday home teams are on guard.
A win by the Giants and Steelers moves them closer to a Super Bowl match up against each other. A loss by either team would open the door yet again for a lower seed to make a run at a Lombardi trophy.
