NFL Betting Odds: Steelers Have A Must-Win Tonight Against Chargers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are the defending Super Bowl champions but they are learning once again why it is so difficult to repeat. Tonight, they face the San Diego Chargers and if they lose they will drop to 1-3 on the season.
Pittsburgh was in a similar position a couple of years ago when they had trouble defending their title. This year, the players and coaches vowed that things would be different. They claimed they were focused on the task at hand.
Pittsburgh opened the season with a Thursday night win against Tennessee and they have not won since. The team has lost on consecutive last minute drives to Chicago and Cincinnati. Now, they cannot afford to have another slip.
San Diego comes into the game having never won a regular season game in Pittsburgh. The Chargers were also eliminated from last year's playoffs by the Steelers, adding a little extra motivation in their attempt to send the defending champions reeling.
Odds makers have the Steelers as the favorite and most analysts believe that Pittsburgh will play well with their backs against the wall. If the Steelers can get through this game, their next three opponents will be Denver, Cleveland, and Detroit.
The two teams both come in with injury problems. LaDainian Tomlinson has been hurt for the Chargers, and Troy Polamalu for Pittsburgh. The Steelers will also be without starting running back Willie Parker for the game.
