NFL Betting Odds: Steelers Looking To Avenge Playoff Loss
The Pittsburgh Steelers spent the better part of last season trying to figure out if they had enough talent to make it to the Super Bowl. They found out their answer in a home playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Tonight, the Steelers will get the opportunity to avenge that loss. Although it is not in the playoffs, the Steelers can still establish themselves as one of the best teams in the AFC with a win.
The sports books do not believe that will happen. They have made the Jaguars a 5.5 point favorite. The line reflects the success the Jags have had over Pittsburgh the past few seasons.
One thing that is certain about tonight's game is that it will be physical. When these two teams meet the pace tends to be fast and the hitting is ferocious. That is exemplified in the low total the odds makers have put on the game.
The total is 37.5 and that means that the defenses should control this game. Many of the Steelers top offensive players are out. Starting running back Willie Parker is not playing, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may not either.
The game will be shown on NBC as part of Football Night in America. Game time is 8:15 PM.
