NFL Betting Odds: Vikings Try To Avoid Letdown
The Minnesota Vikings brought Brett Favre in for two reasons. First, they thought he could be the missing piece to their Super Bowl puzzle. Second, they intended to shift the balance of power in the NFC North from Green Bay to Minnesota.
On Monday, Favre delivered on one of those plans when he played nearly flawless in a home victory against the Packers. Now, the Vikings must face the awful St. Louis Rams today and avoid what could be a letdown game.
"Sometimes when teams are in these type of predicaments they let their guard down," said Analyst Greg Haleman, "That is when we see the teams that are not as good pull the upsets. Several teams this week must guard against this type of letdown."
In addition to the Vikings, Pittsburgh, the Giants, and Indianapolis all are playing teams that they are considerably better than. This makes for one of those weeks that looks easy on paper for gamblers, but may end up being a disappointment.
Pittsburgh travels to face the Detroit Lions, who only recently ended a losing streak that stretched over an entire season long. The Giants face an Oakland team that could have won a couple of games, but continues to look dreadful on offense.
Indianapolis may be in the most difficult spot. The Colts are playing a team in the Titans that had the best record in the AFC last season, but has yet to win a game this year. Tennessee will be desperate to save any playoff hopes they might have, which leaves the Colts in a tough position.
