NFL Betting Preview: Dallas And Houston Face Off In Texas
Sports books have a tough time every year creating pre-season odds for NFL games. Most of the time, the odds are a direct relation to how long starters for each team will play, and which team is the home team. Rarely do the sports books have an advantage in these exhibition games.
Tonight, another round of games will be played in pre-season week three. One of the games of particular interest for fans will be in Texas where the Houston Texans will face off against their in-state rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.
Wherever the Cowboys go, a large contingent of media is sure to follow. Despite being the more transparent team, Dallas is an underdog tonight. Houston is favored by five points in the game, with several of the Cowboys' starters out with injury's. The total for the game is 41.5.
Out on the West Coast, another state rivalry game will be played between San Francisco and Oakland. These two cities have a long, storied rivalry, culminating in the Bay series where their baseball teams squared off for a World series championship.
The 49ers and the Raiders are both looking to get back to being dominant teams in the NFL. The Raiders are the betting favorite tonight with a point spread of -1.5. The total for the game is 37.5. The 49ers are carried by running back Frank Gore, while the Raiders rely on their defense to keep the opponent shut down.
Other games tonight include Cleveland against Detroit, Cincinnati versus Buffalo, and the Giants against Baltimore. The Giants and Ravens are looking to regain their form of a couple of seasons ago, after both teams experienced down years last season.
