The NFL held an owners meeting on Wednesday and Stan Kroenke may be sitting in on the meetings in the future. Kroenke was approved by NFL owners to take over the St. Louis Rams on the same day that Greg Camarillo was traded from the Miami Dolphins.
The betting odds have suggested in recent days that Minnesota may be losing its grip as one of the favorites in the NFC. On Tuesday, the Vikings lost Sidney Rice for possibly half the season. By Wednesday, they had filled his shoes somewhat with Camarillo.
While Camarillo does not have the size and the strength that Rice brought to Minnesota last year, he does have good ball handling skills. Camarillo plays well out of the slot, and gives quarterback Brett Favre another weapon on offense. The Vikings gave up cornerback Benny Sapp in the trade.
Camarillo will join Javon Walker, who was signed on Tuesday, as the new targets for Favre. Even with the new additions, with Percy Harvin suffering from migraines and Rice out, the Vikings may turn more to Adrian Peterson and the running game this season.
The Dolphins, meanwhile, have been trying to keep up with the Jets and the Patriots in the AFC East. After winning the division two years ago, Miami missed the playoffs last year. Bill Parcells has put his stamp on this Dolphins team, and many analysts are expecting the Dolphins to contend for the division crown once again this year.
Sapp will fill a role for Miami and a defense that was exposed at times last season. Miami figures to have a big play offense now that Brandon Marshall has joined the team, and an above average defense could vault the Dolphins to the top of their division.
