The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a habit out of crafting their image to be one of the classiest organizations in the NFL. Unfortunately, sometimes that means that the team has had to let some of their most talented players go.

That was the case on Sunday when Pittsburgh shipped troubled wide receiver Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets. The fact that they traded Holmes, a former Super Bowl MVP, for a fifth round pick, shows just how serious the Steelers are about their public image.

The Jets, on the other hand, could care less what Holmes brings to the community. The only thing Rex Ryan and company care about is replacing the feeling they had in their stomach after losing the AFC title game last year to Indianapolis.

New York has already added Braylon Edwards, another talented wide receiver who has a questionable past. Now they bring in Holmes, who will miss the first four games of the year because of a suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Many NFL fans feel the Steelers are being hypocritical by trading Holmes and standing behind quarterback Ben Roethlisberger after two allegations of sexual misconduct. There is no guarantee, however, that Roethlisberger will emerge from his latest public disturbance unscathed.

The Steelers had said all along that they would let the legal process play out. Today, the District Attorney in Georgia announced that no charges would be filed stemming from a March 5th incident.

Roethlisberger will meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell later this week, and there is a strong chance that the league or Steelers will still discipline the two time Super Bowl winning quarterback.
