NFL Betting Preview: New York Jets Win And Their In The Playoffs
The New York Jets were so distraught after a loss to Atlanta a few weeks ago, that their head coach Rex Ryan proclaimed the Jets playoff chances dead. That was then, this is now. New York enters tonight's regular season finale controlling their own playoff destiny.
There are other teams that will be watching tonight's game with interest. The Ravens, Texans, Broncos, and Steelers all still had playoff hopes going into the early evening on Sunday. The Jets, however, hold the key to many of their survivals.
New York has had themselves an up and down season. They started the season looking to win the AFC East, but those prospects took a hit when they lost twice to the Miami Dolphins. The Jets finished with a better record than the Dolphins, but the losses to Miami placed them too far behind New England.
Now, the Jets are fighting for a shot to just make the playoffs. They were helped last week when the Indianapolis Colts pulled their starters while leading 15-10 in the middle of the third quarter.
New York went on to mount a comeback and seize control of that game, and now the Bengals are the only team standing in the way between the Jets and their first playoff appearance in several years. Cincinnati will be playing for the number three seed in the AFC.
