NFL Betting Preview: Role Reversal With Titans And Jets
The Tennessee Titans made a strong run at an undefeated season last year, but that all ended when the New York Jets defeated the Titans and became one of the favorites in the AFC. Tennessee went on to have the best record in the conference, while the Jets collapsed and missed the playoffs.
Now, the two teams meet again, this time in a week three match up, and the roles seem to have been reversed. The Jets are looking like a top team, and the Titans are floundering.
After a season opening loss to Pittsburgh, many experts chalked up the loss to a Thursday night match up against the defending champions on a night they would raise their championship banner. The fact that Tennessee took the game to overtime signaled a victory of sorts.
Then week two happened. The Titans were lit up by the Houston Texans and fell to 0-2. The warning flags are now flying and Sunday's game with the Jets has become what some would call a "must win."
New York, on the other hand, is flying high. The Jets won their season opener, then hosted New England. With may analysts picking the Patriots to return to the Super Bowl this year, this game figured to be a test for New York.
The Jests passed that test and now sit alone on top of the AFC East. A win this weekend would place the Jets in a position of power moving forward and would all but bury the Titans early in the season.
The betting line for the game is the Jets -2.5. Odds makers believe it will be a low scoring game and have placed a total of 37 on the match up. The Jets have shown one of the leagues best defenses early in the year, while Tennessee must rebound from a defensive disaster last week.
