NFL Betting Preview: Vikings Looking To Hold On To Playoff Bye
The Minnesota Vikings season could not have gone any better through the first eleven games of the season. They swept quarterback Brett Favre's old team, the green Bay Packers, and they had only one loss on their record.
The last three weeks, however, things have started to unravel for the Vikings. They have lost two of their last three games, and there appears to be a rift in play calling between coach Brad Childress and Favre.
Childress is upset with the amount of audibles that Favre has been calling, and he has even tried to pull Favre out of the game at certain points this season. Favre, using his veto powers, did not accept being benched and remained in the games.
Now, Minnesota will get an opportunity to right the ship against the lowly Chicago Bears. A win tonight over Chicago would put the Vikings just one win, or Eagles loss, away from clinching the number two seed in the NFC.
The two seed is important because it means avoiding wild card weekend. The extra week of preparation and rest could come in handy for a team with a quarterback in his forties.
Odds makers do not believe that the Vikings will have any problems manhandling the Bears tonight. The betting line is Vikings minus nine, and that is despite the fact that the game is being played in Chicago. The total is 41.5.
