NFL Defending Super Bowl Champions Begin Season Thursday
The Indianapolis Colts spent the better part of the last five years hearing the critics give reasons why Peyton Manning would never win a Super Bowl.
After answering those critics last year by being crowned Super Bowl champions, the Colts will now turn their attention to the task at hand in 2007, repeating their super feat.
Indianapolis opens up defense of their title on Thursday night on the road against the Dallas Cowboys, and although the game officially means nothing in the standings, many eyes will be on the team the Colts are putting on the field to start the season.
The betting line for the game is Dallas -4.5, a common line for the home team in a preseason game.
Dallas will also have a new look as they begin 2007, Bill Parcells is out as their head coach and Wade Phillips is in.
early returns from the Cowboy camp is that the tone of the team has been much more laid back then the high intensity camp that Parcells ran. Whether that translates into happier players and a better outcome in the standings is yet to be seen.
Detroit and Cincinnati will also have their 2007 debuts on Thursday in Detroit. The line on that game is the Lions -1.5.
