NFL Draft Has Miami Dolphins Possibly Betting On Jake Long
The Miami Dolphins were one blown coaching move away from not winning a game last season. Most of the time having such a poor season guarantees a team an impact player in the off season draft. That is not the case this year.
The Dolphins good fortune of having the number one pick in this year's NFL draft could not have come at a worse time. The group of players who could be the number one pick all have potential flaws.
Miami has begun negotiations with Michigan tackle, Jake Long, according to reports. It is not yet known whether the move is a ploy to get the asking price down for other potential picks, or if the Dolphins are seriously considering making Long the overall first pick.
Other potential picks by Miami include Virginia defensive end, Chris Long, Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston, and LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey. All of whom could be the first pick.
On the offensive side of the ball, there is always the chance that the Dolphins take quarterback Matt Ryan, from Boston College, or Darren McFadden, from Arkansas.
McFadden is considered the best athlete in the group, but his off field question marks and Dolphins current running back Ronnie Brown, make it unlikely they will chose McFadden.
Bill Parcells and the rest of the organization have not tipped their hand as to their choice, and the likelihood exists that the pick will not be known until draft day.
