NFL Football Picks: Dolphins Eyeing Division Title
The Miami Dolphins were one bad decision by Brian Billick away from going the entire season last year without a victory. The grueling questions the players had to endure weekly last year have turned to answers of joy in one short year.
The Dolphins had a gambling over under of wins for this season of five. That would have been considered a positive step in the right direction if Miami had achieved those five wins.
What they have done, instead, is nothing short of remarkable. Bill Parcells appears to have waved his magic wand again in turning around a franchise in the dumps. Parcells, and his head coach, Tony Sporano, have the Dolphins at 8-5 entering tomorrow's game. That record is good enough for a tie for first place in the AFC East with the Jets and the Patriots.
Miami will have a chance the last game of the season to take care of their own business with the Jets. On Sunday, they will be playing a 49ers team that has played much better since Mike Singletary has taken over.
"If Miami goes on to win the AFC East, it could signal one of the most improbable, amazing turnarounds in the history of the NFL. To go from 1-15 to a division title in the span of one year is something you only see once in a lifetime," said Dolphin fan Billy Shuberse.
The schedule favors the Dolphins down the stretch, but they are lacking two things that their competitors have going into the last three games. The Patriots have experience playing in big games, and the Jets have Brett Favre.
Still, the Dolphins were not supposed to even be in this position, so whether they win the division and make the playoffs or not, their season will still be considered a tremendous success.
