NFL Football Picks: Patriots Still On Top In AFC East

The New England Patriots came within one crazy Eli Manning pass of becoming the second team in NFL history to go undefeated. The first, of course, was the Miami Dolphins.

This year, analysts believed that the Patriots would take the motivation from that loss and turn it into another Super Bowl run. They were correct, sort of.

New England lost their starting quarterback in the seasons first game and they looked like they were going to crumble in the weeks that followed. Now, however, they are back on top in the AFC East and can be there all alone if they can beat the New York Jets tonight.

The Jets come into the game with the same 6-3 record as New England. They gambled on quarterback Brett Favre and up until this point he has been exactly as advertised. He is great, but still takes too many chances with the ball.

If the Jets will have a chance against the Patriots tonight Favre will have to be at the top of his game. This is a New England team that is gaining confidence in their new quarterback, Tom Cassell, as the season progresses. A win tonight and there could be no turning back for the defending AFC champs.

The game is the second of the season for the NFL Network. They carried last week's Denver Bronco victory over Cleveland. This game figures to match the intensity that was shown in last week's game.
