NFL Free Agency Starts With A Bang: 2010 Betting Odds Altered
NFL teams knew that the start of free agency this year was going to bring a plethora of big moves. The first day on Friday did not disappoint with some of the biggest names on the market switching teams.
Julius Peppers was considered by many to be the top prize in this year's free agent class. Peppers did not waste any time making his intentions known, He has agreed to play for the Chicago Bears next season. The Bears also picked up former Minnesota Vikings running back Chester Taylor.
In another big move, the Arizona Cardinals have finally unloaded star wide receiver Anquan Boldin. The Cardinals sent Boldin to Baltimore, along with a fifth round pick in this year's draft. In exchange, Arizona receives the Ravens' third and fourth round pick in 2010.
The two major moves may have already altered the betting odds for next season. The ravens will now join Pittsburgh and Cincinnati as the favored teams in the AFC North. Chicago becomes an instant favorite in the NFC North.
The Bears were expected to compete for a division title last season, but fell way short of expectations. Now, they have added one of the top defensive players in the league, and a more than serviceable running back.
The Ravens made it into the playoffs last season for the second consecutive year under John Harbaugh. They went backwards, however, from their conference championship game appearance the year before.
