NFL Gamblers Pick Up Thursday Night Games This Week

The NFL moved to scheduling regular season games during the week a couple of years ago. For those who understand the pulse of the NFL in the US, it was simply another way for gamblers to help the NFL gain more revenue.

This week, the Thursday night schedule starts on the NFL Network. The game features the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bears, two teams that are headed in the wrong direction.

Chances are, the only people that will be tuning into the game are die-hard NFL fans, and gamblers. The latter group has enough m,embers that it will carry the ratings that produce the revenue for the NFL.

The league has said time and again that they are against gambling on their games. Ironically, however, the league continues to find ways to strategically place their games in time slots where gamblers will have to pay attention.

Thursday nights is usually about college football, but the NFL did not like that they were being upstaged, so they moved one game a week to Thursday night. Now, gamblers will have several games to choose from on that night.

Conspiracy theorists suggest that Las Vegas sports books love the idea of having the NFL on Thursday nights. Gamblers will have at least two games to choose from through the end of the college football season, and that means more parlay bets where the house has a distinct advantage over the gamblers.

The NFL, of course, will not subscribe to the theory that gambling is driving the popularity of their sport. They believe that the game is so big in the US that people will tune into a game between the lowly Bears and 49ers for the entertainment value.

They can continue to believe this ridiculous notion, but for the group most interested in Thursday's game, good luck in choosing the right side.
