NFL Monday Night Betting Odds: Ravens Favored Big Over Browns
The Baltimore Ravens were a team that came within one win of going to the Super Bowl last season, so they naturally were going to get attention this season. Tonight, they play a Monday night game against a laughable Cleveland Browns team.
When the NFL and ABC decided before the season that the Ravens and Browns would be a good Monday night match-up, they were hoping the Ravens would still be Super Bowl contenders and the Browns would be a rising team in the AFC.
Instead, the network and the league get a Cleveland team that has been downright awful at times this year, and a Ravens team that has hit a rough patch after starting the season with three wins. Baltimore still has playoff hopes, while the Browns are in disarray.
Part of the problem in Cleveland is they cannot decide on a starting quarterback. They began the season with Brady Quinn, but then turned the reigns over to Derek Anderson. After Anderson put up ridiculously poor numbers, the Browns once again will start Quinn tonight.
Baltimore was a team that came out of the gates with a high flying offense this season. After several losses in a row, the Ravens had an identity crisis. Add to that the fact that their defense was no longer considered elite, and there was a recipe for disaster.
In the past couple of games, however, the Ravens have played better, and again are hoping to make a playoff push. The game tonight against the Browns could be used as a springboard for the rest of their season.
Odds makers do not think much of the Browns chances tonight, even though they are at home. Baltimore is favored by eleven points in the game. The total for the game is 38.5, indicating a prognosis for a low scoring affair.
