NFL Monday Night Football Betting Preview: Patriots And Chiefs

The New England Patriots have been up and down this season. In the early part of the season, the Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady looked unstoppable. Then, a two game losing streak versus Pittsburgh and the Giants had the Patriots reeling. A win last week over division rival New York has the Patriots again thinking big.

New England will face Kansas City tonight in a game that could help the Patriots further distance themselves from their AFC East rivals. Buffalo and the Jets have suddenly fallen on hard times, and New England could go up two full games if they can defeat Kansas City this evening.

The Chiefs are facing their own dilemma heading into tonight's game. Kansas City started slow, then caught fire, moving themselves to the top of the AFC West. In recent weeks, however, the injuries the Chiefs have sustained have caught up to the team, and they now find themselves looking up at Oakland and Denver in the standings.

Kansas City will be starting Tyler Palko at quarterback for the first time. Palko came from the University of Pittsburgh, and he believes he has what it takes to win in the NFL. The Chiefs will find that out tonight, although Palko will be facing a defense that at times has been torched this year.

The betting public does not appear to have much faith in the Chiefs ability to compete with the Patriots. New England has been installed as a 17 point favorite by Las Vegas sports books. The total for the game is 47, with the Patriots having an explosive offense and the Chiefs offense sputtering.

The Monday night game closes out a weekend that saw the Green Bay Packers improve their record to 10-0 with a win over Tampa Bay, and Detroit and Chicago come up with big wins. Philadelphia also saved their playoff chances with a win over the Giants. That win, coupled with a Dallas victory, moved the Cowboys and Giants into a tie for first place in the NFC East.
