NFL Playoffs Are Set With Three Of Last Years Final Four Out

The New York Jets held their playoff destiny in their hands and they took full advantage of it by defeating the Oakland Raiders and clinching a playoff spot, their reward is a trip New England to face the Patriots this weekend.

Denver was another team who controlled their own destiny, but the Broncos, after taking a 13-0 lead, stumbled in the second half, and lost to the 49ers, ending their season.

The Broncos loss opened the door for the Bengals, but they also were beaten by their rivals from Pittsburgh as the Steelers ended the Bengals season for the second consecutive year.

With all the losses above them, that left the Jaguars and the Chiefs to battle for the last playoff spot in the AFC and Kansas City would come out on top and now go on to face Indianapolis this week, a match up that favors the Chiefs, due to the Colts poor run defense.

In the NFC the picture was much easier as the Giants win on Saturday all but assured them of the last playoff spot. Up for grabs , however, was the NFC East, which went to the Philadelphia Eagles, after the Cowboys stumbled into the playoffs by losing at home to the lowly Detroit Lions.

The Cowboys will travel to play the Seahawks Saturday night while the Giants and Eagles will face off for the third time Sunday in Philadelphia.

San Diego and Baltimore have the byes in the AFC while Chicago and New Orleans earned the byes in the NFC. All four teams will have the week off and wait for the winners of this weeks games.
