NFL Power Rankings: Chargers Take Over At The Top
The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints have been at the top of our weekly power rankings for the better part of this NFL season. This week, however, a new team has taken over the top spot thanks to losses by both the Colts and Saints.
The San Diego Chargers have been traveling under the radar for most of the season despite being one of the hottest teams in the league over the past three months. Now, the Chargers have surpassed the Colts and Saints and are number one in this weeks power rankings.
The Colts fall to number two, mainly because of their lack of desire to be considered the leagues best. Indianapolis pulled their starters with five minutes left in their game with the Jets Sunday, ending their run at a perfect season.
New Orleans, meanwhile, lost for the second consecutive time at home. This time the loss was not to a playoff team like the Cowboys, but instead to the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Saints are number three this week.
Philadelphia survived a late scare at home from the Denver Broncos, and moved into the number four spot this week. The Eagles can clinch the two seed and the NFC East with a win over Dallas this week. The Cowboys round out the top five after another impressive win Monday night.
Arizona moves to number six, and Minnesota drops to number seven, followed by Cincinnati at eight. The Bengals wrapped up the AFC North by beating Kansas City on Sunday. The Bengals can still be the number three seed in the AFC with a win and a Patriots loss.
The Patriots move to number eight in our power rankings. Green Bay won again, clinching a playoff spot and moving to number nine in the rankings. Pittsburgh re-enters the rankings at number ten after beating Baltimore for their second win in a row.
