NFL Power Rankings: Colts And Saints Share The Top Spot
The New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts have done everything that is possible through their first thirteen games. Neither team has a loss on their record, and that is why they now share the top spot in our latest power rankings.
New Orleans again had to hold off a noble effort from an opponent, but they came out of the Falcons game with the same result of their other twelve games. Another win, and another step closer to becoming the NFL's second undefeated team in the history of the league.
To get to that lofty goal, the Saints may have to knock off another undefeated along the way. The Colts also won again on Sunday, beating a game Denver team with a wide receiver in Brandon Marshall that broke the single game reception record.
After the top two, there appears to be a little drop off in the league. For this week, it is the Vikings that regain the number three spot. They came back from a demoralizing loss to the Cardinals to manhandle the Bengals.
San Diego is now number four and is threatening to break into the top three. The Chargers put together another complete effort in a win over the reeling Cowboys, and they now are in a position to gain a first round bye going into the playoffs. Cincinnati stays in the top five, despite the loss.
Philadelphia and Green Bay are now teams that it looks like other NFC teams will want to avoid in the playoffs. The Eagles and Packers are both streaking, but are doing it in different ways. The Eagles with a dominant offense, and the Packers with a strong defense.
Arizona, Denver, and New England complete the top ten, although the Patriots are in danger of falling out after another sloppy performance in a win over Carolina.
