The New York Giants did not play a football game on Sunday. They had their bye, and now that their bye is out of the way, it will be up to the defending Super Bowl champions to maintain their spot as the number one team in our weekly NFL power rankings.

The Giants stayed atop the list for the second straight week thanks to the bye. The Buffalo Bills, however, made a strong case to become the new number one in our rankings. They will have to settle for number two for at least one more week.

The AFC now owns the number two, three, and four teams in our rankings. The Tennessee Titans continued to roll and are now 4-0 on the year. They are number three. The Pittsburgh Steelers won on Monday night without their top three running backs for the majority of the second half. that makes them the number four team.

The fifth team is back in the NFC. The Carolina Panthers are looking strong again and are number five. From the same division, Tampa Bay comes in at number six.

Dallas takes the biggest fall this week all the way down to number seven. They have flirted with disaster too many times this year and Sunday it finally caught up to them. Unless Tony Romo learns how to protect the football, this team will have a hard time moving up in the rankings.

Washington, which defeated the Cowboys in Dallas, comes in at number eight. Denver and Philadelphia round out the top ten.

1. New York Giants
2. Buffalo Bills
3. Tennessee Titans
4. Pittsburgh Steelers
5. Carolina Panthers
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
7. Dallas Cowboys
8. Washington Cowboys
9. Denver Broncos
10. Philadelphia Eagles
