NFL Power Rankings: Giants Comfortably On Top This Week
The New York Giants were one of those Super Bowl teams that many experts believed were a beneficiary of circumstance. They came out of nowhere and got hot at the right time, that is what these experts said.
Now, eleven games into the following season, those experts are looking not so smart. The Giants look more like a team headed for a dynasty rather than one that got lucky and won the Super Bowl.
All season long, the Giants have had to put up with an undefeated Titans team in a battle for the top spot in our weekly rankings. We kept the Giants at the top because they were the defending champs, although it is not known how much longer they would have stayed there if Tennessee continued to win.
On Sunday the Titans esxperienced their first loss, and it has solidified New York at the top of the rankings. Tennessee is still number two this week. The Jets, who defeated Tennessee, move into the three spot in the rankings.
Another AFC team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, seem back on the right track, even though their victory this past week was only against the lowly Bengals. Pittsburgh is number four.
Rounding out the top five is Dallas. They have now survived in Washington and demolished San Francisco. Tony Romo and the boys appear headed back towards the top.
Six through ten contains some teams who took either stunning losses or come from behind wins on Sunday. Tampa Bay is number six, and their division mate Carolina is seven. Arizona slips to number eight this week. Indianapolis creeps back into the top ten at number nine, and New England completes the top ten.
