NFL Power Rankings: Giants, Cowboys Top The List
Many publications have many different ways of coming up with their power rankings, but we here at CGW go on two basic criteria. How well has the team played, and what are the chances they continue to play that well in the future.
On the top of our list is the defending Super Bowl champions, the New York Giants. We believe that if a team wants to be the best, then they have to beat the best, and up until this point, nobody has beaten the Giants this year.
The Bengals came close on Sunday, but then again, the Patriots came close in the Super Bowl. Until the defending champs lose a game, they will stay upon their perch of being the leagues best team in our rankings.
They have company at the top, however, and it comes from their own division. The Dallas Cowboys passed their two early season tests and while they might be the better team in the long run, they come in at number two this week.
The number three team comes from the AFC and might be a surprise to some. The Tennessee Titans are off to an impressive start in a division that has faltered so far. The Titans are number three because most people forget they were a playoff team last year. We didn't forget that, and are going on the assumption that this is a playoff team that has improved, even without their starting quarterback.
The Denver Broncos are also undefeated and come in at number four. They would have been higher based on Jay Cutler's performance so far, but they should have lost the game to the Chargers, so they will have to continue to prove themselves if they are going to keep climbing.
In Buffalo, Bills fans are once again having Super thoughts after they have won their first three games. We are not sure they can hold up this pace, and they did almost lose to the lowly Raiders. For now they are in our top five, check back next week, that could change drastically.
Numbers six through ten are all scrambled together and could come out in any order after next week's games. This week, Baltimore is six, New England seven, and Philadelphia is eight. Pittsburgh and Green Bay are nine and ten.
1. New York Giants
2. Dallas Cowboys
3. Tennessee Titans
4. Denver Broncos
5. Buffalo Bills
6. Baltimore Ravens
7. New England Patriots
8. Philadelphia Eagles

10. Green Bay Packers
