NFL Power Rankings: Giants King Of The Hill Once Again
The New York Giants were supposed to have a letdown after winning the Super Bowl. While many experts wondered if the Giants run last year was a fluke, New York just prepared themselves for the new season.
Now, after nine weeks, the Giants appear in position to grab home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs and return to the Super Bowl to defend their title. They are again the number one team in our power rankings after disposing of divisional rival Philadelphia.
The Eagles were supposed to give the Giants their stiffest test yet, but for much of the game they looked over matched. New York is 8-1, however, they do have some competition at the top.
The Tennessee Titans kept their perfect record in tact on Sunday and remained the number two team in the rankings. They are one Giant slip away from taking over the top spot.
Carolina has moved up to the three spot this week after the Pittsburgh Steelers had yet another tough loss at home. The Panthers moved to 7-2 despite quarterback Jake Delhomme throwing four interceptions.
New England, who spent all year last season at the top of the rankings, moves up to number four. They defeated a fading Bills team and now have their sights set on the Jets. New York is tied with the Patriots at the top of the AFC East.
At number five this week is Arizona. They proved that they can win tough games when they had a goal line stand to preserve a victory over San Francisco Monday night.
The rest of our top ten reads like this. Pittsburgh at number six, Washington is seven, Baltimore, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta are eight, nine, and ten.
