NFL Power Rankings: Manning Brothers Keep Giants And Colts On Top
The New York Giants spend many weeks on top of our power rankings last season before eventually giving way to stronger teams near season's end. Now, the Giants appear ready for another run at the top of our rankings.
New York remains number one this week after a dominating performance over Oakland. Even though it was only the Raiders, the Giants still did enough to stay on top. Eli Manning is having an MVP-caliber season so far.
Eli's brother, Peyton, already has been a league MVP. The elder Manning has his team once again at number two. The Colts handily defeated Tennessee Sunday night and Manning looks better than he ever has in his career.
The Minnesota Vikings again looked like the most balanced team in the league. The Vikings have yet to lose, and this week they have moved to number three in our rankings. Brett Favre is benefiting from having one of the leagues best defenses and running games.
New Orleans had a bye week and that caused the saints to drop below Minnesota. New Orleans will have their chance to prove they are number one this week when they face the Giants in a match up of two NFC Super Bowl favorites.
Philadelphia is number five this week after Donovan McNabb again showed why he is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when healthy. Denver, after beating the Patriots moves all the way to number six this week. Their schedule, however, gets significantly more difficult starting with San Diego next Monday night.
Atlanta is now in the seven spot after their clubbing of San Francisco Sunday. Matt Ryan and Roddy white appear to be heading towards mid-season form. The Bears are number eight after their bye week.
A pair of AFC North teams come in at nine and ten. The Bengals, who we still are not completely sold on, occupy the number nine spot, and Pittsburgh returns to the top ten on the heels of another big performance by Ben Roethlisberger.
