NFL Power Rankings: Saints Remain On Top, Colts Move Up
Detractors of the New Orleans Saints first said they could not win with their offense playing poorly, that was before a convincing defense-led win over the Jets. Then, the critics said they could not win coming from behind, they answered those critics with a win over Miami last Sunday.
With all of the question marks surrounding this Saints team answered, they remain the number one team in our NFL power rankings this week. Up next for New Orleans is a divisional match up with the second best team in the NFC South, Atlanta.
The Indianapolis Colts were number three last week, mainly because of a bye. This week, the Colts move up to the number two spot after another convincing win. Each week, Peyton Manning looks more and more like the MVP of the season so far.
Minnesota was the number two team last week, but they took a tough loss in Pittsburgh Sunday. There is no shame in losing to the defending Super Bowl champions on the road, especially when the Steelers appear to be playing much like that title team from a year ago. Minnesota only drops one spot to number three.
Denver had a bye, and while we are not completely sold that the Broncos are the fourth best team in the league, their record speaks for itself. At 6-0, Denver has to be number four. The aforementioned Steelers break back into the top five after their impressive win against Minnesota, there fourth in a row.
Cincinnati also rebounded nicely from a loss, and crushed the Chicago Bears. The Bengals move up to number six this week. They are followed by the Patriots. New England is sitting on top of the AFC East at 5-2.
Arizona is the number eight team this week after a stunning Sunday night victory over the Giants. It was New York's second consecutive loss, and dropped the Giants out of the top five, all the way to number nine. Dallas emerges as the number ten team in this week's rankings after another impressive offensive performance.
