NFL Power Rankings: Titans Hold Slight Lead Over Steelers At Top
What the Tennessee Titans are doing so far this season should be a surprise to nobody. They went to the playoffs last year, and they have one of the best coaches in football in Jeff Fisher. The natural progression theory would lead one to assume they would be better this year than last.
Nobody, however, could have predicted how much better the Titans would be. They still have yet to lose a game and are playing the stingiest defense in the NFL. That combination lands them back on top of our power rankings this week.
The Pittsburgh Steelers continued to impress without their starting running back. The Steelers performance was dominant enough to land them at number one, but being that it came against the lowly Bengals, we'll hold off one more week.
The number three team will also have a shot at the top spot after this next weekend. The New York giants will travel to face the Steelers in a match up of two of the top teams in the NFL. If the Giants win, they will move up at least to two, and possibly to number one.
A pair of NFC South teams take the number four and five spots in this weeks rankings. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers both enter this weekend at 5-2. The Panthers looked better this week, but the Bucs win last week over Carolina keeps them ahead for now.
