NFL Power Rankings Week Eleven: 49ers Make Up Ground On Packers

The Green Bay Packers are the talk of the town when it comes to describing the best NFL team in the league this year. The Packers have not lost a game yet this year, leading some analysts to start predicting a perfect season for the team from Wisconsin.

The Packers have been number one in our Power Rankings every week since they won the Super Bowl last year, and they are considered by most to be miles ahead of the next best team in the league. In any other year, that next best team may have been receiving the accolades being given to the Packers.

The San Francisco 49ers are the best team in football that nobody is talking about. While Green Bay has run the table through their first ten games, San Francisco has come out of that same period with just one blemish on its record. If the 49ers beat Baltimore Thanksgiving night, and the Packers lose in Detroit, the two teams would be tied for the best record in the NFL.

The Steelers climbed back to number three last week, and stay there this week after having a bye. Baltimore has beaten Pittsburgh twice, and has the lead in the AFC North thanks to that tiebreaker, but the Ravens inability to be consistent keeps them at four this week behind the Steelers.

New England again appears to have their ship sailing in the right direction after back to back wins over the Jets and Chiefs. The Patriots offense got off to a slow start Monday night versus Kansas City, but they turned it on in the second half and won by thirty-one. The Patriots come in at number five.

A bunch of 7-3 teams take up positions six through nine. New Orleans, Super Bowl champs just two seasons ago, are number six, followed by Detroit, Houston, and Chicago. The Bears took a hit to their chances of remaining in the NFL's elite when they lost quarterback Jay Cutler to a hand injury for at least the next six weeks.

Oakland was in the top ten early on this season, and they have re-emerged at number ten this week. The Raiders lead the surprising Denver Broncos by one game, and the Chiefs and Chargers by two games in the AFC West.
