NFL's Gamble On Pro Bowl In Miami Paying Off For Many Players
Fans of the NFL for the most part have been indifferent to the idea of moving the Pro Bowl to the location of the Super Bowl for the first time since 1967. Players, however, have been treated to Super Bowl hype with the game being played in Miami.
In past years, players would board planes and land in the tropical paradise that is Hawaii. This year, those planes have landed in another tropical paradise, but one that comes with the availability of some of the top night spots in the US.
Miami is a place where celebrities are used to flocking to. Athletes come and visit in the off season, and major stars are in town whenever their schedule is free. The city is one of the top hot spots in the country, and this is what the NFL's Pro Bowl players have been treated to this week.
One player, Bryant McKinney of the Minnesota Vikings, has enjoyed himself on South Beach so much this week that he missed most of the NFC's practices for the game. McKinney has been kicked off the team, but nonetheless he has enjoyed his stay in the place where he starred in college at "The U."
Other players have brought their families and are getting the opportunity to be a part of the hype surrounding the Super Bowl, which will also be played in Miami next week. There are parties almost every night, and tons of things for wives and children to do during the day.
Many fans believe moving the Pro Bowl from Hawaii was a bad thing, but this game is not about the fans, it never has been. Instead, it is a reward for the players who earned the right to play in the game, and for them, a reward of spending the week in Miami has plenty of upside.
