NFL Sunday Night Football Betting Preview: Dolphins And Jets
The Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets have provided some of the most memorable moments of any sports rivalry over the years. Tonight, they will renew that rivalry with first place in the AFC East on the line.
The Jets came into the season as one of the favorites to win the AFC. They stumbled out of the gate, losing their home opener to Baltimore. Last week, the Jets rebounded by beating the Patriots at home. Now, they go on the road for the first time this season.
Miami, meanwhile, has gone the other way early this year. The Dolphins are 2-0. and can take a commanding two game lead over New York if they can protect their home field. The Dolphins have won their first two games on the power of a strong defense against Buffalo and Minnesota.
If the Jets are going to realize their expectations this season, they will have to win some of these games without their top players. Santonio Holmes has yet to see the field after being suspended before the season. Darrelle Revis is nursing an injured leg.
Miami comes in healthy but has some concerns on offense. The team has not yet figured out a way to get their high priced wide receiver, Brandon Marshall, the ball. Their running game has also been suspect at times, and they will face a stiff test in a Jets defense that prides itself on shutting down opposing ball carriers.
As is the case most times these teams hook up, the betting line is low. The Dolphins are favored by two points, and the total is thirty-six, suggesting a low scoring affair. If Miami wins, they will be alone in first place. if the Jets win, there will be a three way tie between the Jets, Dolphins, and Patriots.
