NFL Training Camps Open And Bettors Start Studying For Season
Fans and players have two completely different views of training camp. For players, training camp is dreaded, long practices geared towards conditioning is the last thing that millionaire players want to take part in.
Fans view training camp as a time for a fresh start. The off season has been long, and fans are hoping that their teams made enough moves to make it over the top and perhaps reach the Super Bowl. The baseball season enters the dog days of summer, and that means football is right around the corner for NFL fans.
A third group, however, exists. Gamblers can attest to the feelings of both the fans and the players. Training camp for gamblers can be torturous, waiting for games to start so they can place their bets. Training camp also serves as a way to see if they are any sleeper teams that can make the bettors money early in the season.
The NFL season tends to run similar each year for gamblers. Early in the year, they have the advantage with odds makers not knowing where to place lines. The bettors win early, and then have money for the rest of the season. As the season wears on, the odds makers become more sharp, and the gamblers begin to give back the money they had won.
By the end of the year, most gamblers are scraping together their last pennies to head to Las Vegas sports books to bet on the Super Bowl. It is a cycle that is repeated annually, and one that starts with training camp.
NFL teams have started arriving this week, and next weekend there will already be pre-season games played. For fans, players, and gamblers alike, that is when the calendar really turns from baseball to football, and training camp becomes a distant memory.
