NHL Finals Betting Odds: No More Mulligans Left For Pittsburgh
The Detroit Red Wings came into this Stanley Cup as the defending champions and were once again the betting favorite. It is true that their opponent, the Pittsburgh Penguins, were much improved over last year's team that lost in the finals.
That did not change the odds makers belief that Detroit was still the better team. Now, after playing five games, the Red Wings are one game away from winning the series and defending their championship.
Pittsburgh does have some series history in their corner for game six tomorrow night in Pittsburgh. First and foremost, the Penguins will be playing at home, and the road team has not won a game yet in this year's finals.
Second, they still do have two of the best young players in the game in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. The two have both played at an all star level in the playoffs, but were frustrated and shut out in game five.
Detroit has the experience. These Red Wings have become the standard by which other hockey teams are measured. They have been the most consistent team over the course of a decade, and now are just one win from adding another Cup to their legacy.
The two teams had two days off between games five and six, so they both should be fresh. game time is set for 8PM on Tuesday from Pittsburgh and will be shown live on NBC.
